What to expect on the call
The person who answers handles Live Local Act filings; there is no call center. We will ask about the property, how many units are set aside for residents under the income limits and how far along you are. Then we can do a free eligibility check and give you a plain, rough idea of what the exemption might save.
If going ahead makes sense, we schedule a second conversation by phone, on video or at our office and walk through the steps in order: FHFC certification, then the DR-504AFH application with the county property appraiser. A call in the fall or early winter gives you time to collect paperwork before the March 1 deadline rather than hurrying in February. We do not take email, forms or online bookings, so calling is the only way to reach us.
Useful to have on hand when you call
- The address of the property, plus the parcel number if it is close by.
- An approximate number of units, and how many are rented, or could be rented, at restricted rents.
- The current rent roll, or a recent breakdown of rents by unit size.
- Past filings or any letters you have received from FHFC or the property appraiser's office.
